Podiatry

With the exception of nail surgery, Podiatrists use non-surgical methods of treatment. At Firefly, we specialise in the treating various conditions affecting the lower extremity. In many cases, a patient's condition can be treated by prescribing strength and conditioning exercises that are designed to build core foot strength to treat current or prevent future injury.

Orthotic Therapy

At Firefly, we prescribe custom made foot orthoses that are unique to the anatomy of your foot and fit comfortably into your footwear. Orthoses are designed to enhance how your foot functions. Our custom made foot orthoses can help patients who suffer from foot, knee, hip and lower back pain.

Bracing Therapy

The Firefly Foot and Ankle Clinics are the first clinics in the UK and Ireland to offer podiatric bracing with the Richie Brace. With that comes a higher level of experience and knowledge in the non-operative treatment of foot and ankle pathologies.

Podiatric Musculoskeletal Assessment

A comprehensive examination of the musculosketetal system. This is done through assessing joint ranges of motion/stiffnesses, gait analysis, assess strength and identify weaknesses.

Strength & Conditioning

Foot strength is commonly overlooked. Poor foot strength can result in increased occurrence of foot and ankle pathologies. Strength and conditioning plays an important role in patient recovery and rehabilitation following an injury. At Firefly we provide patient specific strength and conditioning programmes designed to reduce the likelihood of future injury.

Diabetic Foot Examination

Diabetes can be particularly dangerous to the feet, causing nerve damage, loss of feeling, foot ulcers and serious infections which can lead to amputation of the toes or foot. If you have recently been diagnosed with, or care for someone with diabetes, make sure you are doing all you can to protect feet and keep toes healthy too.

Ingrown Toenails

An ingrown toenail is when the nail penetrates the skin at the side of the nail, resulting in discomfort and pain. Firefly Foot & Ankle Clinic Podiatrist's can conservatively manage the ingrown nail or carry out nail surgery for a permanent fix.

Children's Foot Examination

Children's feet are soft and pliable. It is important to ensure your child is meeting the developmental milestones of a growing foot!
